Penang Botanical Garden in Penang, MalaysiaThe Penang Botanical Gardens located along Jalan Air Terjun (Waterfall Road) is an oasis of peace and tranquility amidst lush green surroundings, tropical plants and the vibrant colors of Penang's flora. The 30-hectare garden also features a waterfall and a man-made lake full of Japanese carps and this tourist attraction has attracted many tourists who come here for its beauty and charm.

 

Specially created in 1884 by the British, this recreation area was meant as a special tribute to Charles Curtis, its first Photo: Penang Botanical Garden             superintendent who collected botanical specimens from the surrounding hills which have since become significant samples in the world's major herbariums. The gardens are also well-known for their Rhesus monkeys and the main attraction here is for the visitors to watch the monkeys carrying our their daily routine.
