Masjid Kapitan Keling in PenangLocated on Masjid Kapitan Keling Road, the Kapitan Keling Mosque is named after the Indian Muslim merchant, the 'Kapitan Keling' (headman) Caudeer Mohudeen who built it in the early 19th century.

 

This grand mosque located at the Georgetown area has the distinction of being the first mosque in Penang whereby it features an attractive ocher yellow facade and a specially designed dome-shaped minaret reflecting Islamic architecture of Indian influence. Permission must be sought to enter this mosque can be obtained from mosque officials and devotees congregate at this mosque during the weekly Friday prayers. The mosque is at its busiest during the Hari Raya celebrations by the Muslim communities.
