 One famous tourist
attraction located at 120 Armenian Street is the Dr. Sun
Yat Sen House. This heritage building is the venue where
Dr. Sun Yat Sen organized his 1910 Chinese Revolution.
Dr. Sun Yat Sen is a very famous Chinese revolutionary
who also founded the Kuomintang Party.
Also known as Dr.
Sun Yat Sen's Penang Base, this place of interest later
became the Tung Meng Hui Southeast Asia Headquarters.
The Penang branch of this political party functioned as
an underground organization. One significant event that
took place at the Dr. Sun Yat Sen House was the Penang
Conference which was to coordinate the Canton Uprising.
For tourists who are interested to learn more about Dr.
Sun Yat Sen in Penang, they are advised to visit Sun Yat
Sen Research Centre at Lorong Sun which was established
by the
Penang
Sun Yat Sen House
Philomathic Union.
Currently a Dr. Sun
Yat Sen Museum is being set up at Macalister Road in
Penang.
