LUMUT - PERAK

LUMUT

NORTH OF MALAYSIA

Mainly a fishing village, today, it houses the country's principal naval base and a port which services the industrial estates nearby. It is also one of the venues for sailing regattas and the hop-over point from the mainland to the charming Pangkor Island, a famous tourist attraction in Perak.

Lumut's most popular and famous beach is Teluk Batik, a long stretch of white sand where the Pesta Laut Lumut (Sea Carnival) is held annually between October and November. Sea-sport competitions, exhibitions and cultural shows attract thousands of visitors during the carnival. The beaches found in Lumut are all spectacular whereby the water is ideal for many water sports activities.

Some 6 kilometers from Teluk Batik Beach is Teluk Rubiah, another fine beach with a golf course nearby. The Teluk Rubiah Royal Golf Club and its resort property offer a wide range of facilities. On the upper side of the Sungai Dindings estuary near Segari town is Pantai Pasir Panjang (Long Sandy Beach) which has a turtle hatchery.
