MAXWELL HILL - PERAK

BUKIT LARUT

NORTH OF MALAYSIA

Maxwell Hill, now known as Bukit Larut, is the country's oldest hill resort and is approximately 1,035 meters above sea level. This pleasant retreat is accessible only by government land rovers. Colonial bungalows are available for rent near the summit and the tranquil atmosphere is definitely a crowd puller to this famous tourist attraction in Perak.

The cool fresh air, low misty clouds and the sounds of the natural forest provide an ambience second to none. The views of the jungle canopy below are exhilarating to say the least and jungle streams cascade beside the nature trails and over rock faces. If you are on a backpacking trip to Malaysia, visit Maxwell Hill for a day or two to rejuvenate your tired muscles and stay at any one of the comfortable but cheap hotels found here. On the way to Maxwell Hill, you can see the Burmese Pool, Malaysia's first swimming pool at Jalan Air Terjun.
