Sabah is one of the top places to visit in order to see and learn more about the Malaysian wildlife. With its unique tourists attractions and famous places of interest, Sabah is a popular travel destination in this part of the region. One of Sabah's most famous attractions is the Danum Valley Conservation Area which is known for its rich and colorful wildlife. Danum Valley is a part of the huge logging concession owned by the Sabah Foundation and it is located about eighty kilometers southwest of Lahad Datu on the Sungai Segama. Tourists will have the opportunity to see rare animals such as the bearded pig, gibbons, mousedeer, orang utan and the almost extinct Sumatran rhinoceros. This area also shelters over three hundred species of birds and bird spotting has become a popular activity here and over two hundred species of trees pre hectare have been recorded.

Built within the confines of this four hundred square kilometers forest reserve is the Danum Field Research Centre. Popular among foreign visitors is the first eco resort found here called the Borneo Rainforest Lodge which comes with a fantastic bar, chalets and a restaurant overlooking the stunning Danum River and giving tourists a perfect rainforest experience. Some activities being organized for the pleasure of tourists include bird watching, jungle trekking, night jungle tours and swimming in the river but the main attraction here is the canopy walkway which is a walkway suspended twenty-five meters above the rainforest floor. The night drives are also popular here too. For those who want to learn more about Sabah's main export, then you can take a day trip tour to nearby logging sites and timber mills.
