KENINGAU - SABAH

KENINGAU

EAST MALAYSIA

This sleepy town is commonly used as a stopover point for tourists to change buses before embarking deeper into the Murut districts of Tenom. For those who want to spend a night over, there are cheap hotels and budget accommodation available here. Keningau is one of least explored towns in Sabah situated about fifty kilometers from Tenom. For lucky visitors, they may catch a glimpse of Muruts in their traditional tribal wear. The town comes to live during the weekly tamu (open market) which is held every Thursday. Common sights seen here are cattle and ponies grazing on the open vast land and this area is also known for its timber and agricultural products.
