Another diver's
favorite, the Layang Layang Atoll, is located
165 miles northwest of Kota Kinabalu.
The Layang-layang Island is an incredible
oceanic atoll and also a well known tourist
attraction in Sabah. Oval-shaped and blessed with clear blue waters,
you can also windsurf, sail a catamaran, dive,
snorkel, fish to your heart's content, then
climb back on land and watch the thousands of
migratory birds nesting there in this nature
lover's paradise. Most visitors come here mainly
to scuba dive and admire its rare water wildlife.
This great
attraction is all round its rim with the sea-bed
dropping two thousand meters and a visibility
average of over fifty meters. Whether you are here for
swimming or scuba diving, the view here is simply
marvelous and the waters are calmer during the
months of February until September.
