Miri, located near the border
with Brunei, is the gateway to the north of Sarawak and
its spectacular national parks, rivers and highlands.
Regular Malaysian Airlines (MAS) flights connect Miri
with Kuching and other domestic destinations. Miri, known
also as
the famous oil town in Sarawak, has plenty of good restaurants serving
excellent local and western food and pubs
whereby there are plenty of activities going on
throughout the night at this bustling commercial centre.
Miri is also a famous travel destination in this
part of the region.
Not only is Miri the
gateway to the Niah Caves and Mulu Caves,
tourists come here for the beautiful beaches
whereby the Taman Selera Beach is packed with
visitors during the weekends. From here,
tourists can also take a boat ride or cruise along the
scenic Baram River to view the famous longhouses of the
natives of Sarawak.
