Literally translated
as 'Crab Island', this traditional fishing village is
basically a whole community living on a wooden
island. This off-shore island located opposite
Port Klang is mostly filled with houses made of wood and built on
stilts. The pedestrian way comprises wooden
planks which are just five-feet across. Common
traffic are people, motorbikes and bicycles.
Noted for its seafood restaurants, there are
boat tours available on the island to take
around this tourist attraction in Selangor.
A couple of
small hotels allow for overnight stays but this
place is more popular with day-tippers. Fishing and
bird watching tours are available. There is a
ferry service to the island from Port Klang and
the crossing takes about one hour and the main
attraction here is the fresh and delicious
seafood.
