The majority of the
residents at the East Coast of Malaysia are fishermen.
Terengganu offers tourits some of the best traditional
fishing villages seen in this region. Excellent fishing
towns and famous fishing villages can be seen in towns such as Chendering,
Kampung Merang, Kijal and Marang. These places are
famous tourists attractions since visitors come here to
observe at the daily lifestyle of the fishermen here.
These places of interest are uniquely a Malaysian
attraction seen no where else.
Tourists who loved to fish
will enjoy the long jetty found in Chendering. Kampung
Merang is one of the least developed places in
Terengganu with its rustic charm and pleasant beach. A
popular fishing community can be found at the mouth of
the Sungai Marang in Marang. The waterfront at this
fishing village has
a good view of the ocean with many colorful and unique fishing boats
parked along the beach. The nearby Kampung Jenang offers
some well known aged-old activities such as the displays
of atap weaving (roof thatching), coconut sugar making methods
and monkeys being trained to collect coconuts.
