Kuala Terengganu is a very important
area for its fishing activities and this town is also the centre
of cultural attractions. It is easy to get around since

worth exploring for its many colorful sights of a
semi-urban environment. Using a city map of Kuala
Terengganu will even make your sightseeing tour much
easier. Oil earnings have changed this
fishing town to a modern city. The day-to-day activities of
this once famous fishing town offer plenty of photographic
opportunities and shutterbugs will surely enjoy this
place. There are many tourists attractions here in this
town and one of the more famous attractions is located at Jalan Losong
Ferry which is the Terengganu State Museum Complex (Kompleks
Muzium Negeri Terengganu) which is built according to
traditional Terengganu architecture and it is made up of
a main museum, botanic garden, fisheries museum, four
traditional palaces and maritime museum. Exhibits of
various ancient artifacts can be seen and the

with the tourists. The crowds' favorite is the huge
Malay sailing vessel.
The Bukit Puteri (Princess Hill) located at Jalan Kota allows visitors to have a breathtaking view
of the town and it was built in 1830 and was used as a
fortress up to 1876. Several cannons, a flagpole and a
large bell is all that is remained today. Another
attraction near Bukit Puteri is the Istana Maziah which
is used as the venue for royal functions such as birthdays and weddings,
conferment of titles and the welcoming of dignitaries.
The view from Bukit Puteri is just spectacular. Another
place of interest is the Zainal Abidin Mosque. For those who love shopping, then you must not miss the
Central Market (Pasar Payang) whereby cheap local
produce and traditional handicrafts are all being sold
here.
Another place to buy
souvenirs is at Desa Kraft (used to be called Usaha Desa)
on Jalan Bandar whereby the
most popular item is the wayang kulit (shadow play)
puppets which are excellent items to decorate your
living room besides the usual batik T-shirts and wood carvings.
The city beach of Pantai Batu Buruk has incredible
scenery. A
day trip to Pulau Duyung (Duyung Island) is also
worthwhile because it is here that you will be able to
witness the traditional method of making boat. This
island is linked by bridge from Kuala Terengganu and
craftsmen on this island are well known for their
ability to make high quality boats. Kuala Terengganu is
also a good place to learn more about the Malay culture
and also to eat some delicious Malay dishes. For those
who wants to try authentic Chinese cuisine, then visit

stomach after a fulfilling day of visiting all the main
