Pulau Perhentian Marine Park
which is situated
twenty-one kilometers off the coast of Terengganu is made up of
of two islands which are Pulau Perhentian Besar and the
smaller Pulau Perhentian
Kecil. A trip to this lush and exotic tropical islands
is a must for all nature lovers and those who enjoy
scuba diving, snorkeling, deep sea fishing, swimming,
wind surfing, sailing, boating and canoeing. Both of
these islands are Malaysia's most famous tourist
attractions and are the essence of a tropical paradise
with their white beaches and clear waters filled with
colorful fishes and beautiful corals. Visitors coming
here can take part in the many activities being offered
here or just sit along the beach and enjoy its superb
beauty.
Surrounded by a virgin
jungle, swaying palm trees, white sandy beaches, warm
sapphire blue waters, and a colorful coral garden, Pulau
Perhentian is renowned as one of Malaysia's marine
paradise and part of the national marine park.
Visitors are reminded to abide by the Fisheries Act
1985 as Pulau Perhentian is one of the few marine parks
left in Malaysia. No fishing is allowed within a 3.2 kilometers
radius of the island and the collection of coral and
aquatic life is strictly prohibited. The journey to this
spectacular island takes about one and a half hours by
boat from Kuala Besut. Resorts and chalets are found in
Pulau Perhentian Besar while the less explored Pulau
Perhentian Kecil is mainly made up of small fishing
villages. Visitors are advised not to come here during
the monsoon season which starts from November to
February. Your travel to Terengganu must include the
Perhentian Islands as one of your stops since these
islands are one of the top tourist destinations in
Malaysia.
