Since Terengganu is a well
known for its traditional handicraft, it is not
surprising that one of the more popular places of
interest here in this east coast state is the Sutera Semai Centre (Silk Weaving
Centre). Located in Chendering, about six kilometers
from its capital city, traditional silk making
techniques and batik printing can be observed and
admired here.
Also found here is the
Malaysian Handicrafts Centre which has daily exhibition
of famous traditional Malay handicrafts such as basket
weaving, songket weaving and wood carvings.
Visitors too will get a rare chance to learn more about
the art of top and keris making methods. Tourists can
also get to shop for good quality Malaysia silk and
Malaysian batik at the Silk Weaving Centre.
