Located about seven
kilometers northwest of Bartung in Siddhartha
Highway is the unique and ancient town of Tansen
which is the headquarters of the Palpa district.
Among the main tourists attractions in Tansen
are its historical monuments, temples and the
lively handicraft industry. As for trekkers,
available to them are a number of short
treks found around Tansen that can lead them to
local sites of scenic and cultural interest. The
main short trek from Tansen is probably the
circuit to Ranighat which is located on the
banks of the River Kali Gandaki and it is
considered the best trek among seasoned
trekkers. A few teahouses can be seen in
Ranighat and trekkers may also camp on the
beach.
Another eye-catching
short trek suitable during wintertime is to
follow the old trade route from Tansen all the
way down to Sisnu Khola and finishing in Butwal.
The Dhorpatan Circuit is also another trekking
route that is popular among trekkers. In Tansen,
visitors do not have to worry about food and
accommodation facilities as these items can be
easily found. Trekkers are recommended to
arrange their trek through a good trekking
agency that can meet the requirements and all
the contingencies that may arise.
