Bed and Breakfast Scheme in Delhi, India
The Union Tourism Ministry of India recently launched an unique Bed and Breakfast Scheme in Delhi and also around the surrounding areas of the National Capital Region to utilise the spare capacity in private homes to cater for tourists since a shortage of budget accommodation is expected especially during the 2010 Commonwealth Games. The main objective is to have a capacity of over 10,000 rooms in the capital by the time of Commonwealth Games to house foreign visitors at an affordable price. The Tourism Ministry will then grant them recognition as ‘Incredible India bed and breakfast establishments’ and classify them under ‘Gold’ or ‘Silver’ categories depending upon the quality of facilities provided.
