Fort Siloso in Sentosa Island, SingaporeFort Silosa, a top tourist area located at 33 Allanbrooke Road, on Sentosa Island was built by the British in the 1880's and is Singapore's only preserved British coastal fortification allowing you to relive its history and role as a concentration camp for prisoners of war during the Japanese Occupation.

 

The fortress provides a sensory adventure of a recruit's life, complete with 'booming' coastal guns, war games, tunnels and Photo: Fort Siloso in Singapore     soldiers and it is definitely recommended for those who are curious about life in the army and this historic military base may provide the necessary answers. Located not too far away from the famous Siloso Beach, not only this fortress houses troops but it is also a training ground. This fort's historical value stems from the fact that it was used as a prisoner-of-war (POW) camp by the Japanese during the Second World War. Visitors can participate in a Fort Siloso Tour which begins as soon as visitors step abroad the new, open-sided tram for a short, scenic journey up to the new Fort Siloso Square. Tourists can explore the sprawling grounds of the four-hectare fortress by picking  any one of the three recommended routes which all end at the Surrender Chambers. At the Surrender Chambers lies the historic tableaux of Japanese Surrender which features the signature life-size models of British and Japanese soldiers. This place of interest in Sentosa gives a very good account of Singapore's military history as it includes the largest collection of original naval guns in Asia. This famous tourist attraction is one of the most famous areas in Sentosa.

Buses: Sentosa Bus from World Trade Centre Bus Terminal or Tiong Bahru MRT. On Sentosa, take the monorail to Station M3 or by bus on Blue or Green Lines and transfer to Fort Train.
