Lazarus Island
and Sisters Island are two small islands located
in the southern part of Singapore. Although
these islands are not as famous as Sentosa, the
Singapore Government has managed to develop
certain sections of these islands and making
them a popular camping and picnicking areas
among the local and foreign visitors. The Sisters
Islands are actually made up of Big Sister's
Island (Pulau Subar Laut) and Little Sister's
Island (Pulau Subar Darat) which are separated
by a narrow channel. According to legend, at the
spot where two sisters who were believed to be
drowned while escaping from pirates, came up two
islands which was subsequently named the Sisters
Island. Crystal clear waters and sandy beaches
make these islands an
ideal weekend get-away destination. Snorkeling
and scuba diving are favorite activities here
since Lazarus Island and Sisters Island are home
to some of Singapore's spectacular coral reefs.
