The Singapore History Museum, located at 30 Merchant Road, #03-09/17 Riverside Point, has a new exhibition, Rivertales at Riverside Point (opposite Clarke Quay). One of the greatest charms of Singapore is its history and until today, Singapore has not forgotten but has successfully managed to preserve as much of that rich history as it can which is shown on the Rivertales exhibition. This exhibition is specially presented during the closure of its 116-year old Stamford Road building for redevelopment until 2006. The Singapore History Museum has not lost any quality in the move to Riverside Point. Visitors are given an interactive as well as many documentaries and films to watch. The main exhibition is named Rivertales and takes visitors through the history of the island from a 14th century settlement named Temasek until today as a modern, international city.

 

The Singapore History Museum at Riverside Point will be moved back to Stamford Road at the end of 2006Rivertales explore the history of Singapore through developments revolving around the Singapore River. There is also the hourly screening of the museum's 12-minute short film called the 'The Old Man and the River' which is a poetic exposition of the Singapore River seen through the eyes of a 77-year old man, followed by a 3D 35-minute visual display of 'The Singapore Story - Overcoming the Odds' or one of the collection of heritage documentaries. December 2006. This famous tourist attraction allow visitors to learn about Singapore's fascinating history over the last seven hundred years. All the information is presented in easy, fun ways that make a stroll around the exhibition a memorable experience. There is even a Children's Discovery Gallery where kids can play with the exhibits while learning some history at the same time.

 

Opening times: 1.00pm to 7.00pm (Monday), 9.00am to 7.00pm (Tuesday to Sunday), 9.00am to 9.00pm (Friday) (Free admission after 7.00pm)
