The Sun Yat Sen
Nanyang Memorial Hall, located at 12 Tai Gin
Road (off Ah Hood Road), is a national
monument which has a colorful history dating back to
1900. This place of interest in Singapore
showcases the life and the achievements of Sun
Yat Sen. A Chinese businessman in Singapore offered
it to Dr Sun Yat Sen for his revolutionary cause
which was to free China from the feudal lords and end
200 years of Qing Dynasty rule in which this era
constitutes an important part of China's history. In 1964, the
Sun Yat Sen Memorial Hall Singapore Chinese Chamber of Commerce and
Industry turned the villa into a memorial to commemorate Dr Sun Yat-Sen and his revolutionary
movement. Highlights include a bronze
statue of Dr Sun Yat Sen and a vast collection
of photographs, artifacts and an audio-visual
presentation of the villa whereby the displays
and exhibits explain the history of the great
man himself and also detailing his struggle for
the common people.
