Protecting the skin with a face maskOur face is the most expose area of our body and it is the area which have to deal with most of the problems. Among the problems which could hurt our face are particles found in pollution, cigarette smoke and pesticides. Other factors which are also damaging to the skin on our face are oiliness and the daily stress we have to endure whether it is from home or at work. Before each treatment such as deep cleansing, exfoliation, steam or a face massage, it is important to take note that everybody's skin is different and therefore each treatment should be treated differently according to your skin type.                     Photo: Face Mask

No matter what type of skin type you have, to protect the skin, daily cleansing and care are essential and antioxidants such as vitamins A, C and E can protect us against the free-radical damage because skin cells impacted by free radicals can function poorly and die.

A good and easy way to protect your face is to massage, via gentle circular motions, a facial cleanser over the whole of your face and neck. A recommended facial cleanser would be a good vitamin C or other antioxidant cleanser. Before doing so, it is important to wet your face first. After you have finished rubbing, rinse your face with lukewarm water because hot water can damage the tiny blood vessels and then pat your face dry. A another method is to scrub your face. This method will allow the removal of dead cells, impurities and sebum and also speeds up cell renewal and permit smooth new skin to shine. This process requires you to lightly rub small dollop of your favorite facial scrub, usually fruit-based, over your entire face. After that, use trepid water to wash your face and dry your face with a towel.

Another way to freshen up your face is by using steam. To start this spa treatment, add not more than three drops of rose essential oil into a large bowl of boiling water. Then, lean towards the bowl but keep your face about thirty cm away from the water. Using a towel over the bowl to trap the vapors, steam your face for ten minutes. This method is helpful because it is well-known fact that rose oil can overcome dry skin. It you have sensitive skin, then use chamomile oil while lemon oil is suitable for oily skin. Another important product to help facial problems is to use a vitamin C mask and moisturizer since it helps restore the skin's lipid barrier which controls the flow the flow of water through skin layers. Apply a small and evenly amount of vitamin C mask over your face for about fifteen minutes. Then remove it with a wet cloth and while your face is still damp, apply a vitamin C moisturizer to seal in the moisture and at the same time, it will strengthen the skin.

Spa treatments that contain tea tree oil are extremely suitable for oily and acne-prone skin. You can use a tea tree face wash by massaging the cleanser all over your face. When complete, rinse your face with lukewarm water. After that, use a gentle scrub to further cleanse and exfoliate your skin. Tea tree oil is known to be used for treating sunburn, stings, gum infections and athlete's foot. Instead of washing your face, you could also apply a thin layer of tea tree-based facial mask over your face to further protect your face. Please keep in mind that oily skin needs moisturizing also. A tea tree moisturizing gel can help to soften and hydrate your skin without irritation and its antibacterial properties is also good for controlling blemish causing whatever marks you have to be less visible.
