As time goes by, we tend to forget to take good care of our body. It may due to poor diets, unhealthy habits or simply due to careless negligence which leave us in a situation whereby we need to purify our body. In ancient times, mud is widely believed to have been used by our ancestors to detoxify the body and to re-mineralize our skin which subsequently helps draw out the impurities and smoothen the skin. This technique is still being used up till today to bring back purity to our body. Clays too are used to get rid of the toxin from your body. The French green, a fine pale green clay from France, which contains magnesium, dolomite and silica is highly absorbent and is a good deodorant and cleanser. To get a good hair and body cleanser, use the rhassoul, a natural-colored clay from the Atlas mountain. A product of China, the white powder kaolin clay which contains aluminum silicate is regularly used as a thickening ingredient for facial masks and creams and body masks.

Spa treatments to detoxify the faceUsing the mud application method, choose the body mud that you feel comfortable with and cover your entire body with the mud. Although not necessary, some may choose to cover their face as well but stay away from the eye and lip area but always make sure that the mud is spread evenly. The best place to apply the mud is outdoors on a warm day. Lie down on a lounger while you wait for the mud to dry. Do not panic when your skin starts to tighten because it is only the mud drying.

The muds help draw out impurities and toxins. After quarter-of-an hour, use a body mist, usually made of distilled water mix with rosemary and orange essential oils, to refresh the mud mask. These two particular type of oil is chosen because they help hasten the detoxification process.

Rinse off the mud when it dries again under a warm shower. Do not use any cleansers to wash the mud away because it may wash away beneficial trace minerals that is useful to the skin, just wipe away the mud with your hands. Dry yourself off after all the mud have been removed. Spread a rich body butter containing intensive emollient, such as olive oil or shea butter, evenly over your body and rub it in to moisturize your skin but do not apply this lotion on your face. To complete this detoxification process, take a detoxifying beverage, usually a mixture of grapefruit, lemon, orange, garlic and olive oil, to further cleanse your system.
