WAT PHRA SING - CHIANG MAI

PHRA SING TEMPLE

NORTH THAILAND

Located on Sam Lan Road, this beautiful temple was built in 1345 and is one of the focal points of Songkran festivities, also known as the Water Festival, on the 13th to 15th April each year when people bathe the revered Phra Buddha Sihing image and is the city's most renowned and visited temple. The temple compound includes the lovely Lai Kham chapel with its exquisite woodcarvings and northern-style murals and also a magnificent scriptural repository with striking bas relief. This temple is also a perfect example of the Lanna architecture which contains wall paintings showing Lanna customs and dress.
