KALASIN - NORTHEAST THAILAND

KALASIN PROVINCE

NORTHEAST THAILAND (I-SAN REGION)

Kalasin, east of Khon Kaen, is a smaller province similarly noted for its fine silk and for the temple of Wat Klang, which enshrines a superbly fashioned black Buddha image that is widely believed to bring rain during periods of drought. In recent times, Kalasin has also gained famed for the significant discoveries of dinosaur fossils, numbers of which are now exhibited in a newly completed dinosaur museum but the silk-weaving villages and scattered Khmer ruins remain its main attractions.

As with other I-san destinations, Kalasin is ultimately rewarding for the warm hospitality of its people and the traditional values to which they still adhere which guarantees your journey here to be very pleasant.
