GIAC LAM PAGODA

Seen around Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) and located at 118 Lac Long Quan Street in Tan Binh district is the majestic Giac Lam Pagoda. It is one of the most beautiful pagoda in Vietnam and it is also believed to be the oldest pagoda in the city besides being one of most famous tourist attractions in Vietnam. Standing in the front garden is a shining white statue of the Goddess of Mercy, perched upon a lotus blossom which represents a symbol of purity and the serene surroundings is ideal for taking a stroll or perfect for meditation.

 

Built in 1744, under the reign of Lord Nguyen Phuc Khoat, the architecture, layout and ornamentation of Giac Lam Pagoda (also known as Cam Son Pagoda or Cam Dien Pagoda) have not changed since 1900 and the compound is a very peaceful, inspiring place to explore, write or recite poetry and it is a major tourist attraction in Vietnam. Opening time is from 6.00 am to 9.00 pm.
